Beatrice Crawford Memorial Concert
This year’s Beatrice Crawford Memorial Concert presents a true taste of Brazilian musical culture. One of Brazil’s busiest and most influential composers, arrangers, producers, and guitarists, Mario Adnet is a living legend. Since his debut in 1984 he has released numerous recordings, including Ouro Negro (the definite renditions of the music of Moacir Santos), the Grammy winning Jobim Sinfónico, Jobim Jazz, From the Heart, Afrosamba Jazz (with Philippe Baden Powell), and Vinicius e os Maestros. MSU Jazz Band I and The Cali School are pleased to welcome Mr. Adnet to campus to perform a variety of his arrangements and compositions with MSU Jazz Band I under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Kunkel.
This concert is a free public performance supported by a generous grant from the Keating Crawford Foundation. It is presented at Montclair State University in memory of Beatrice Crawford, a Montclair musician who was the director of two choral groups “The Madrigals” and “The Choraliers.” Tickets are required for admission.
