Gioacchino Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio (The Marriage Contract).
Comic opera sung in Italian with English supertitles.
A rich English merchant tries to sell his daughter to his Canadian business partner. But the daughter and her own true love have other plans. The 18 year old Rossini’s debut opera is a sparkling masterpiece of comic timing and musical characterization.
