New Yorker highlights UNCIVIL WARS: MOVING W/ BRECHT & EISLER this week

Deborah Jowitt reviews UNCIVIL WARS for Village Voice

Come to the cabaret as hilariously brought to life by David Gordon in this grand interpretation of Bertolt Brecht’s anti-Nazi parable The Roundheads and the Pointheads, where leaders of the fictional town of Yahoo maintain control by instigating conflict between two groups of its own citizens. Shaped by an astute adaptation by Michael Feingold and highlighted by the poignant music of cabaret composer Hanns Eisler, this brilliant music theater work makes a statement that is equally compelling in today’s world.

“A dizzying experience, immediately plunging viewers into the thicket of overlapping references and characters.” – The New York Times

Co-commissioned by The Kitchen and the Walker Art Center.

David Gordon is this season’s Peak Artist.
